Common Questions & Answers

Q: Once I register a domain with Digital Hosting, how can I make changes or update information?

A: Changes or modifications can be made via our web-based Domain Manager. You will need the domain name as well as the User ID and Password that you created when you registered the domain. If you have lost your password or user id, please e-mail our support department using the link above.

---------------------------------------------

Q: I want to transfer my domain to Digital Hosting, what are the Primary and Secondary DNS servers I should use?

A: The Primary DNS server is NS1.DIGITALHOSTING.NET. Its address is 216.233.243.2. The Secondary DNS server is NS2.DIGITALHOSTING.NET. Its address is 216.233.243.3.

---------------------------------------------

Q: My E-mail program is asking for inbound and outbound (or POP and SMTP) server names. What are the servers I should use?

A: First, lets assume your domain name is "mydomain.com". Wherever you see "mydomain.com" replace this with your actual domain name. For your Incoming mail (or POP mail) use POP.MYDOMAIN.COM. For your outgoing mail (or SMTP mail) use SMTP.MYDOMAIN.COM.

---------------------------------------------

Q: How can I add or delete users from my account or change other account settings?

A: You have full control over your account settings including the creation and deltion of users via our Web Management Interface. You can access this interface by pointing your web browser to your domain followed by "/siteadmin". (i.e. "http://www.mydomain.com/siteadmin) You will be prompted for the user id and password for your site administrator. This is the User ID you were issued when you signed up for service.

---------------------------------------------

Q: How do I upload my web pages to my web site?

A:This depends on whether you selected FrontPage Extensions when you signed up for your account.

For non-FrontPage users, you can upload your web pages with any standard FTP program. Point your FTP program to ftp.mydomain.com (where mydomain.com is your domain name). You will be prompted for your user id and password. Use the user id and password you were assigned when you signed up. Once logged in you need to make sure you are uploading to your MAIN web directory. When you login, you are placed into your PERSONAL web directory. To access your MAIN web directory type "cd /web" and press ENTER.

For FrontPage users, you should upload your web pages by using the "Publish Web..." option on the file menu and following the instructions.

---------------------------------------------

Q: How many e-mail addresses can I have?

A: Each account is limited to a certain number of "mailboxes" (i.e. Quickstart has 10 mailboxes), but all of our accounts are allows an unlimited number of e-mail "aliases". These "aliases are your e-mail addresses. Let's say your User ID is "user01". While user01@yourdomain.com would certainly reach you for e-mail, you probably want more normal addresses. To do this, you can access our Web Management Interface and assign aliases to "user01". For example you could assign "user01" the alias of "support", "billing", and "webmaster". In this case the user "user01" would have three e-mail addresses support@mydomain.com, billing@mydomain.com, and webmaster@mydomain.com. All three reach the same mailbox.
